Each year the nation rallies to remember and celebrate a man who had a dream, Martin Luther King Jr.

The day of observance is this coming Monday but the community at Fort Bliss kicked off the celebration this afternoon.

Soldiers gathered to remember the life of the civil rights activist through a video presentation, titled "Voices of Bliss,"showing how the life and legacy of MLK has impacted many individuals throughout Fort Bliss, a performance by the Replica Child Development Centers Pre-K "Strong Beginnings" class, and guest speaker, retired Sgt.Maj. "Were trying to promote community service, and some of the things Dr King represented. Which was our society, getting along,  and everybody moving forward and being equal" said the commanding general of the 1st Armored Division and Fort Bliss, Maj. Gen. Dana JH Pittard.

The Presidential Inauguration and the Federal Martin Luther King Jr. holiday both fall on Monday.
