Socorro Leaders Mull Recall Tonight

SOCORRO - A special meeting has been called for 6 p.m. at Socorro City Hall to recall the city's mayor and a councilmember.

Last week, the council said it wanted to put the recall of both leaders to a public vote.

Councilman Luis Varela is under arrest on marijuana and cocaine charges.

Mayor Willie Gandara is under indictment on federal corruption charges.

We will let you know what comes of tonight's meeting.

socorro council is a joke, they need to all be replaced. i cant believe that there is even consideration to keep them on the board. thats ridiculious that they will hold criminal records and be in charge of a growing city. they cant even take control themselves.
