SOCORRO — Fireworks are expected at Socorro's next city council meeting. On Thursday, council members will discuss whether the city should hire an investigator to look into legal issues surrounding the proposed annexation. Representative Jesse Gandara Jr. was allegedly secretly recorded offering Licon Dairy a $40,000 advertising campaign in exchange for its support of the annexation plan. Gandara wants an investigator to look into the origins of the audio recording. He and council member Willie Madrid resigned over the weekend, but won't actually step down until May when an election is held to replace them.
