Election day is Saturday, May 11 and campaign signs can be seen on every major corner in Socorro.

Along with the campaign sings, residents are also seeing a sign that reads, "Socorro Vote. Porque si no..."  The translation is "Socorro Vote. Because if not..." The text is followed by an image of a rat holding a wad of cash.

The sign was designed by James Lowenberg, owner of Celestra Graphix, in Socorro. He said he created the signs because he is tired of what he calls, "dirty politics."

"I think the rat represents, it speaks to both languages, English and Spanish. People see it and they comment, 'wow, that's an ugly rat.' My motivation is to show the ugliness in our politicians, in our system right now," said Lowenberg.

Lowenberg said he hopes his signs will convince Socorro residents to show up and vote.
