EL PASO - The City of El Paso kicked off "National Latino AIDS Awareness Day" with a soccer match.

Local organizations came together to play the game and raise awareness of HIV and AIDS among Latinos in our community. According to the El Paso Department of Public Health, there are about 1,700 people living with HIV and AIDS in the city, and the numbers continue to grow.

The city will offer free HIV testing at the Old Plantation Night Club next Friday, October 14, 2011.

Having HIV is not the end of the world. Because of it, I have met so many wonderful people here in Michigan and around the country (even a few abroad) through PositiveMate.com.

To all of us who test positive stay strong and don't let anyone put you down. life goes on and we can continue to live a full and happy life.
