Small plane crashes near Ruidoso airport

Alto, NM (KTSM) — A small Piper Cherokee crashed during take-off from Sierra Blanca Regional Airport in Ruidoso at approximately 5:32 PM Wednesday evening.
Rescue personnel were on the scene immediately including Fire Chief Harlan Vincent, Police Chief Joe Magill and ARF Chief Sean Parker. The plane was carrying two people who were not seriously injured.
The plane landed 300-400 yards from the end of the runway. Crews on-scene are currently going through the Emergency Action Plan and contacting all appropriate agencies including the NTSB.
Authorities with the Sierra Blanca Regional Airport say there was minor property damage sustained at the airport. The
