Construction began Wednesday morning for a brand new skate park in northeast El Paso. The skate park, off McCombs, will be the largest not only in El Paso, but in the whole region.

On May 14th, El Paso City Council awarded the contract for construction to Medlock Commercial Contractors, LLC, in the amount of $1.4 million. This is the first project funded by the 2012 bonds to begin construction.

"This is a world class skate park designed with the user in mind, designed with the input from skaters so this is a park that's going to be not just something that folks in Northeast El Paso will go to but folks around the region will go to as kind of a model for what a really great skate park should be," said Martin Bartlett from the City of El Paso.

Work is scheduled to be completed by winter 2014.

I saw a picture of Carl Robinson in the EPT where he is at the ground breaking. He has some gall to show up after he voted against the funding for this park. The guy is a hypocrite.
