It's been burning for more than a month, but the Silver Fire in New Mexico is almost finally out. Crews in the Gila National Forest say the blaze is now 85 percent contained. The fire started back in early June, and has charred more than 138,000 acres of land. Crews are now seeding some of the burned area with native grasses to try and stabilize the soil and prevent flooding, which continues to be a big hazard for crews working in and around the fire scar.

Meanwhile, recent rains have helped reduce fire dangers and have prompted the New Mexico State Forestry Division to lift all fire restrictions on state lands, and at state parks. Fire restrictions do still remain effect though on most federal lands, including New Mexico's national forests.
