Seventy-two year old Victor Vargas Junior has been missing since Saturday and his family says he needs immediate care.

Vargas suffers from Alzheimer's disease, has a heart condition, high blood pressure, and is blind in one eye. He is Hispanic, approximately  5'11'' tall and weighs 210 lbs.

"I love him and I want him to come home. We love him and we want him to come home," said Vargas' son, Victor Vargas III.

The family begs the community to help them find their loved one.

"Please. He's in danger. He needs his medication. Time is running out. We're running against time. He's very very sick," said Vargas' son.

His family believes Vargas wandered out of his home in Clint Saturday night, got into his car, and drove away.

Vargas' wife, Gloria, owns a home in Cloudcroft, New Mexico. She says her husband may have been headed in that direction.

Authorities say he was last spotted in Alamagordo on Sunday. The Alzheimer's Association is helping police with the search.

"This person can be out there somewhere, in the desert and not being able to find his way back home," said Susana Vargas from the Alzheimer's Association.

"I love my husband and I want him to come home," said Gloria.

The family says New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez issued a silver alert for Vargas immediately when the family reported he might be in that state.

The state of Texas would not issue an alert because the family was missing a letter from Vargas' doctor confirming he is indeed suffering from Alzheimer's disease.

The family says it's because the doctor is on vacation out of town.

"If Governor Perry is seeing this, I want him to understand this is my father and I need my father back. I need his help. I need him to put that silver alert now because I need to find my dad. He's very ill and he's very sick. I know he'd do the same for one of his family members if it was one of his," said Vargas' son.

Vargas is believed to be driving a grey or silver Chevy Silverado truck with Texas license plate AC78811. If you have any information on his whereabouts, you're asked to call El Paso Police.
