The Texas Center for Quality and Patient Safety (TCQPS) ranked all three El Paso branches of the Sierra Providence Health Network as high performing hospitals in 2013.

The TCQPS began using a Center for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) system at the beginning of 2013 to rank hospitals and recognize those that meet and exceed specified standards.

"We take pride in providing the best patient care possible and this recognizes our team's hard work and efforts. Providing good healthcare is about always about putting the patient first," said CEO Eric Evans.

The ranking is based mainly on an evaluation of patient outcomes and rates of readmission.

In order to be recognized, hospitals are required to receive a 3, 4, or 5 on the CMS scale, which means that they must submit data that proves there was a 30% improvement or higher of Hospital Acquired Condition (HAC) patient outcomes or a 0% rate of HACs for at least six months.

They must also meet a readmission requirement of at least 15% improvement.
