Everyone is encouraged to bring “old” bills and documents they want shredded to Security Service Federal Credit Union on Saturday, October 19, and bring a few “new” bills to donate to the American Red Cross.

The event will raise money for American Red Cross El Paso to help with fire relief during the upcoming holiday season. “Home fires are a common and deadly threat because they happen so quickly,” said Mark Matthys, Executive Director. “We urge everyone to become aware of what they should do to prevent a fire in their home.”

Red Cross representatives will share fire safety information with the public including how to plan for and respond to home fires.

Security Service Federal Credit Union will present a check to the Red Cross for local disaster relief at 11:00 a.m.

The UTEP Cheerleaders and mascot Paydirt Pete will also be attending from 10:30-11:30a.m., and Security Service will be presenting a scholarship check at 10:45a.m.
