Should You Buy Into Black Friday Hype?
Should you buy into the hype of the Black Friday deals?
Experts say if you really want to save money this holiday season, it's all about timing.
They say retailers want you to belive that the earlier you get your holiday shopping done, the better it will be for your wallet. But it's only in their best interest.
Retailers know the earlier you shop, the more money you are going to spend. And those too good to be true deals? They'll come around again.
"It's that sort of frenzied thinking that this is a once in a lifetime deal, that this special promotion, this discount, this sale is only going to be offered just once," said finance expert Lynette Khalfani-Cox. "Nothing could be further from the truth because we know that the later you get into the season when you get to mid-December and then late December right before Christmas. That's when retailers start to get a lot more desperate, so they start slashing their prices even more."
The only risk with waiting is that stores may run out of those hard-to-get items.
