EL PASO - Newschannel 9 has learned that the sexual assault case against an El Paso police officer will not go to court.

Tonight, the district attorney's office confirmed that all charges have been dismissed against officer Mark Munoz. He was indicted last year, accused of drugging a woman and having sexual contact with her. His trial was set to start this Friday, but the DA's office has dropped the case.

Renee Railey, spokeswoman for the El Paso County District Attorney's Office said, "After careful review of the case, we dismissed the case because the evidence was insufficient to proceed to trial."

We also checked with the El Paso Police Dept tonight; Mark Munoz is still on the job as a police officer.

Another officer cleared of all wrong doing and back on the force. Seems as though El Paso Police Dept officers whom are charged with a crime are innocent or off the hook. As an El Pasoan I DO NOT trust EPPD. It only takes a few bad apples to ruin the batch. El Paso County is going after El Pasoans for dumb and ridiculous crimes when the County should really take action on their own and stop harrassing hard working Citizen of El Paso, whom really make this city shine.

Pay attention and you always find out that an "ex police officer" is on trial for something, however the media never mentions "active duty" police officers taken to trial. People should know that as long as an officer still works for the police department, the chances of him being accused much less convicted of any wrong doing are nill. The EPPD protects its image by first firing officers then having them convicted as "ex officers" so as not give the wrong empression to the city's residents.

I THINK THATS GREAT. SHE IS JUST A MONEY HUNGRY GOLD DIGGER. SHE KNEW OFFICER MUNOZ HAD ASSETS AND WENT FOR THE WHOLD 9 YRDS. FINALLY JUSTICE HAS PREVAILED. OFFICER MUNOZ HAS BEEN A HERO IN EL PASO OVER AND OVER AGAIN. AND IS A GENTLEMAN AND A LOVING SON AND FATHER. THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN A TREMENDOUS LOSS TO OUR COMMUNITY. THANK YOU LORD......THANK YOU TO OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO THE MUNOZ FAMILY!

Is it really necessary to accuse someone of being "just a money hungry gold digger??" Like any officer has "assets." What ASSETS?? In case you're confused, it was a CRIMINAL case. NO MONEY involved. By the way, I didn't know Officer Munoz walked on water.
