El Paso — The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch Friday afternoon until 10 p.m.
At one point, a severe thunderstorm warning threatened the entire Borderland, dropping small hail and brief heavy rainfall, along with 60+ MPH wind gusts.
Conditions improved later in the evening and the storms were expected to clear out of the area by Saturday morning, along with dry wind and rising temperatures.
Chief Meteorologist Chuck DeBroder said the stormy weather was a result of moisture from a cold front pulled from the Gulf of Mexico.
