Seven brush fires in Central El Paso are all being blamed on one source - a train.  El Paso Fire Department officials said that the fires were sparked just after 6 p.m. Monday as a train traveled north on the tracks.  The locations of the fires:

  • 3501 Morenci
  • Pershing/Dyer
  • Pershing/Memphis
  • Cassidy/Patriot
  • Cambridge/Stevens
  • Chester/Stevens
  • Sparkman/Leeds

The fire department received multiple calls about the fires.  Union Pacific was notified by fire officials.  They stopped the a train for inspection, but it is unclear if the train they stopped is the one that caused the fires.

Ten fire department units and 26 personnel responded to all of the locations of the brush fires.

No injuries were reported.
