UPDATE: El Paso police say the driver of the vehicle was 18-year-old Sergio Renteria.

Renteria was driving east on Rich Beem when he lost control of his 2003 Ford Mustang, slid over a curb, struck a telephone cable box, then rolled over.

He was transported to Del Sol Medical Center with multiple broken bones and a skull fracture.

Special Traffic Investigators says speed was a factor, but does not believe alcohol is involved.

There was another driver? I live very close to the site of the accident and actually saw the car turned over and destroyed. I believe that is a miracle that the young man is alive and thank God for it and also thank God that no one else got hurt. Praying for a full recovery.

I SINCERELY APOLOGIZE TO EVERYONE IN BEHALF OF MY SON FOR DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. HE IS STILL IN CRITICAL CONDITION, I HOPE THAT YOU KEEP HIM IN YOUR PRAYERS. I WENT TO THE SITE AND I CANT UNDERSTAND HOW HE WOULD HAVE LOST CONTROL. IF YOU HAVE INFORMATION ABOUT THE OTHER DRIVER PLEASE CONTACT US HERE. I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED. HE DOES NOT DRINK OR MESS WITH ANY CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES, HE HAD JUST ENLISTED AND WAS GOING TO BASIC IN AUGUST. PLEAS PRAY FOR HIM AND OUR FAMILY.THANK

I will definently keep you and your family in prayer. Just know that the Lord works everything (even an accident-my input) for good for those who love Him. Romans 8:38. May be He was going to be killed if he was going to serve our country (just a guess, becuase i dont know the Lord's mind). However, He was protecting your son from something worse. I am so sorry that you are going through this. I had been myself in a car wreck that the paramedics were amazed that i had made it. Thank you

hope the kid is going to be ok, but I'm going to suggest that SPEED may have had something to do with the crash

I pray that the kid is ok, as well... I agree tho, that speed surely was involved as I can see no way that a single car accident could demolish a vehicle that terribly! It is a shame because there are Elementary Schools and playgrounds in the area that this took place in.
