Seventh Annual Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon
EL PASO — The El Paso Marathon Foundation invited the public to attend its Seventh Annual Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon Tuesday afternoon.
The event planned on celebrating the Mayor and City Council's proclamation to make September the official El Paso Marathon Runners' Month. September 25 was proclaimed as El Paso Marathon Runner's day.
Organizers invited marathoners, half-marathoners, 5kers and all other running enthusiasts to the kick-off party held at the Garden restaurant and bar located at 511 Western from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Attendees will receive a $5 registration discount, and admission is free.
"Registration goes up on September 30th, so this will be your last chance for great pricing," said Race Director Mike Coulter.
Anyone wearing a past-year El Paso Marathon, Half-Marathon or 5K Run/Walk T-Shirt who registers at the kick off party will receive a $5 discount from pre-registration prices of $70.00 for the marathon, $50.00 for half marathon, $25.00 for 5k run/walk.
The 2013 El Paso Marathon will take place on Sunday, February 24, 2013. The marathon route starts atop the Franklin Mountains on the northern edge of the city, meanders down Transmountain Road alongside desert landscapes, passes through Fort Bliss to the beautiful Austin Terrace neighborhood and finishes in historic Downtown El Paso. The elevation drop of 1, 584 feet makes the Michelob Ultra El Paso Marathon one of the fastest 26.2-mile courses in the nation. The El Paso Marathon is a Boston Marathon qualifier.
