Republican Senator John Cornyn said America just needs plain-old Texas common sense on NBC's "Meet the Press" Sunday.

Cornyn was reminded that Democrats call the GOP the party of "no." But the senator said that saying "no" isn't such a bad thing.

"Well, my constituents in Texas, I have to tell you, to all the bad ideas that they hear coming out of Washington these days, 'no' is a good start," Cornyn said. "And then they want us to replace it with common sense policies that actually make sense."

Democrat leaders on "Meet the Press" predicted they'll retain control of Congress in the November election.
