UPDATE:  9:36 a.m.

Police say Steve Martinez Jr., was driving the car that hit the semi and that he failed to control his speed.

EL PASO - One man is in critical condition this morning after a bad wreck in East El Paso.

A car slammed into an 18-wheeler on Commerce and Hawkins around 7:30 last night.

Police are not sure how the accident happened.

The driver of the car was rushed to the hospital.
