Police in Sunland Park are looking for an armed man that led police on a high speed chase last night.

Police say they responded to a domestic disturbance call in Sunland Park just before 11:00 p.m. Sunday. When they arrived, the suspect drove off, leading them on a high speed chase into the Upper Valley.

It came to an end on Doniphan near Montoya when police opened fire. The suspect got away.

“The suspect fled from the officers. Our officers proceeded to threaten him, then shots were fired. The suspect became at large, and with the assistance of the El Paso Police Department, the U.S. Border Patrol and the Dona Ana County Sheriff's Department, a search was conducted in the area. However we're unable to locate the suspect at this time,” said Sgt. Javier Diaz, with the Sunland Park Police Department.

Police don't think the suspect was hit by the gunshot.

Investigators say they know who the man is and believe he is still armed with a handgun. He may have been involved in a shooting along I-10 in El Paso earlier last night.

Police are questioning two other men who were in the car with the suspect, but they're not expected to face any charges.

If you have any information you're asked to call police.
