UPDATE: Officials with YISD confirm that crews from the Texas Gas Service were able to repair the gas leak and classes at Loma Terrace Elementary are expected to resume as normal on Friday, April 25.

Earlier: The El Paso Fire Department is responding to reports of a strong gas odor at Loma Terrace Elementary School in El Paso's Lower Valley.

The call was made to EPFD after noon, and at this time YISD can confirm that they are in the process of transporting all students from Loma Terrace Elementary School to nearby Bel Air High School.

A YISD spokesperson says that the students will all be fed sandwiches for lunch as they are taken to Bel Air.

The evacuation order is a precaution to make sure that the students are safe, and parents can pick up their child now or at their regular dismissal time in the cafeteria at Bel Air High.

Students that are bused to school will be bused to their home at their normal time.
