The University of Texas at El Paso has become the latest university to be welcomed into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program.

The Bachelor of Business Administration with a Major in Finance degree program has been acknowledged as incorporating at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge and placing emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the program.

These programs position students well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation, which has become the most respected and recognized investment credential in the world.

Entry into the CFA Institute University Recognition Program signals to potential students, employers and the marketplace that UTEP’s College of Business Administration curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations.

Through participation in this program, The University of Texas at El Paso is eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Program each year.

“Students in these programs study the Candidate Body of Knowledge, which include knowledge, skills and abilities that investment experts worldwide have identified as essential best practice,” said Stephen Horan, Ph.D., CFA, CIPM, Head,

UTEP has, for nearly 100 years, produced some of the most successful and influential business leaders in the region.

The UTEP College of Business Administration (COBA) gained national AACSB accreditation in both Business Administration and Accounting.

Only 5 percent of the world’s business schools have earned this distinction.

In 2013, COBA was named the No. 1 graduate business school in the nation by Hispanic Business magazine for the fourth consecutive year, received the Best of the Best designation by Hispanic Network Magazine for the second year, and the Ph.D. program was one of five finalists for graduate program of the year by Excelencia in Education, an award won by the UTEP MBA in 2012.

All of the graduates enjoy strong national demand for their employment at major corporations, financial institutions and in academe.

“Our college is proud to enter the CFA Institute University Recognition Program,” said UTEP COBA Dean Robert Nachtmann, D.B.A.
