Author Todd Miller will talk about his new book, Border Patrol Nation: Dispatches from the Front Lines of Homeland Security, on Tuesday, April 1st, at Stanlee and Gerald Rubin Center for the Visual Arts, UTEP campus.

The talk is free and open to the public starting at 6:30pm.

"The Border Patrol has a huge impact on our community, and recently has come under increased scrutiny due to concerns with civil rights and use of force,” said Josiah Heyman, Ph.D., chair of The University of Texas at El Paso’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology and incoming director of UTEP’s Center for Inter-American and Border Studies.

“Todd Miller is a widely heard voice on the national stage about the Border Patrol. He did significant parts of his research in the El Paso area. It is valuable for members of the UTEP and El Paso community to hear back what he is reporting nationally about our region."

Todd Miller is a Tucson-based journalist whose critical writings on border security are published widely, including in The Nation, Salon and the Daily Kos.

He recently penned a lead essay on this subject in the New York Times Sunday Review section.
