New Mexico State University's Center for Latin American and Border Studies will host a book presentation in Spanish on work written by Elia Hatfield, a visiting professor, at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the Nason House, 1070 University Ave.

The book, Por los caminos del nortre: relatos de mujeres de la frontera, details stories of women trying to cross the Mexican border to the United States.

It describes the journey of women who are witnesses and victims of the drug trafficking violence in Juarez.

Jesus J. Barquet, a distinguished achievement professor in the department of languages and linguistics, is making the presentation, and Gabriela Moreno, an assistant professor, also is providing comments.

The book will be on sale at the event, and a reception will follow.

The event is free and open to the public.
