Dona Ana County Cooperative Extension office accepting applications for Master Gardeners
Las Cruces, NM (NMSU) — New Mexico State University’s Dona Ana County Cooperative Extension office is accepting applications for certified Master Gardeners. The weekly classes begin Aug. 21.
Applicants are required to complete the 15-week Master Gardener classes and a 50-hour internship, which consists of 25 hours of answering questions on the hotline and 25 hours of additional community-based volunteer activities. To maintain certification, Master Gardeners must volunteer at least 50 hours each year.
The Master Gardener classes meet from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursdays from Aug. 21 until December. The course cost is $95 for individuals or $150 for commercial applicants and includes class materials.
Applications are due July 25 and forms are available at the Dona Ana County Cooperative Extension office, 530 N. Church St., or online at http://aces.nmsu.edu/county/donaana/mastergardener/apply.html.
Luna County applicants who can complete their volunteer work in Dona Ana County also are welcome.
