University Medical Center wants to build several outpatient clinics throughout the city, but not everyone is supporting the plan. Monday night the Canutillo Independent School District's Board of Trustees passed a resolution opposing the sale of those bonds. The board says it agrees there is a need for better access to health care, but says the tax increase should first be approved by voters.

Why is UMC competing with existing non-profit community based heath care clinics? UMC should partner with non-profit clinics instead of wasting tax payer dollars by competing with them. All UMC is doing is acting like the big bully in town who is really after patients that are going to private physicians. Last night an elderly man who was in a pedestrian crash was first taken to a for-profit hospital & then to UMC. WHY? Isn't that illegal patient dumping? Get it together UMC!
