EL PASO — Police were asking for the public’s help in locating a possible scam artist Friday.
Detectives need help in locating 33-year old Adan Ramos, who has one outstanding warrant for theft. Ramos is believed to have been targeting his victims by advertising employment opportunities on Craigslist.
When a person responds to the advertisement, Ramos demands money, usually under the auspice of a certification or uniform fee, etc. Once paid by a prospective employee, Ramos keeps the money and either avoids communication with the victim or continues to stall.
The victims never receive a job and Ramos never returns the money. Detectives have developed sufficient information to suggest Ramos’ actions are a scam and he never intends, nor does he have the ability, to provide the victims with employment. This is not the first time Ramos has been charged with this type of crime.
