ACTion Programs For Animals (APA) will celebrate it's grand opening this July at 800 W. Picacho.

To celebrate, all animals are half-off their regular adoption fees ($37.50 for dogs and $25 for kittens), and adult cats are still being offered for $9 as part of the Best Friends national 9 Lives for $9 campaign.

APA has social mama cats needing homes, which they rescued with kittens from the shelter during this year's Save a Kitten Project.

They also have some who are not as social who would be ideal as barn cats, shop cats, etc.

APA leads the Save A Kitten project and has rescued more than 200 kittens and 19 adult cats, most of them mama cats, from the municipal shelter since April 1st of this year.

Also coming up at the facility are monthly TNR (trap-neuter-return) presentations--each first Monday of the month at 6 p.m. (the first being July 7th).

National feral cat expert Joe Miele, who resides in Las Cruces, teaches people how to humanely and responsibly care for our community's free-roaming cats.
