Salmonella outbreak from exposure to baby poultry
New Mexico (KTSM) — The New Mexico Department of Health is reporting a Salmonella outbreak in several counties including Luna and Otero counties.
The seven cases reside in Curry, Eddy, Lea, Luna, Otero, and Taos counties from exposure to baby poultry.
Four of the cases were in infants and two had to be hospitalized.
The department is warning families to keep baby chicks or other baby birds out of their homes and use caution in order to avoid salmonella infection.
