Sal Mena: "I Want To Apologize"

The latest on a story we've been following.

Former EPISD trustee Sal Mena is issuing a public "I'm sorry" this morning.

Yesterday, he pleaded guilty to bribery.

The U.S. Attorney says... among other things... Mena traded his vote for campaign contributions with vendors wanting to do business with EPISD.

Mena had this to say yesterday:
"First of all i want to apologize to all my family friends and to this community for my actions. I'm disappointed in myself and am fully aware my actions are wrong. I did not live up to my standards this community deserved and i am very sorry for what I have done, thank you. "

A Michigan man also pleaded guilty to bribing Mena in exchange for a multi-million dollar vendor contract. No sentencing date has been set.
