We may be in midst of a seemingly never ending drought, but one New Mexico community is worried about flooding. Bonito Lake near Ruidoso is full of sediment from last year's Little Bear Wild Fire. The lake is 72 feet deep, but now contains nearly 40 feet of sediment, and there are worries the lake will flood if a big monsoon storm hits the area this year.

The city is waiting on $280,000 worth of electric pumps to remove some of the debris. And the problem isn't just impacting Ruidoso. Alamogordo typically gets about 15 percent of its water from bonito lake. That's no longer possible, and city officials there say they are now facing a water shortage.
