EL PASO - Rolling blackouts have resumed for El Paso utility customers.

El Paso Electric's intentionally outages began at 6:30 a.m.

The utility is asking you to be patient during these outages.

If the blackouts last more than an hour, you are asked to call El Paso Electric's power outage lines at 915-877-3400 (Texas) and 575-523-7591 (New Mexico).

Once again, El Pasoans are being asked to curtail use of electricity throughout today.

No word this morning on when El Paso Electric will finish repairs on the Rio Grande and Newman generating plants.

The company says the severe cold idled both plants, forcing the utility to impose blackouts to conserve power.

Big Brother has arrived and we lose.

What else can we expect from El Paso HELLectric

Get ready because who do you think is going to pay for all this.

We need electric competition! 2 degrees and it brings down both power generation plants! Really!

And we get all of this and pay some of the highest rates in Texas!

Where is the Texas PUC.

Call and or write the Attorney General as well as the Public Utility Commission. This is fraud! EPE is causing literal life and death situations due to what I suspect is their greed and willingness to use this Artic blast to direct more costly energy from Palo Verde Plant! WAKE up EL Paso!!! You are being scammed! Elderly, homeless,& children are all at increased risk! Not to mention our water service is also now feeling the effects of EPE lack of ethics!

Agreed! In addition to contacting the AG and the public Utility Commission, all Elpasoans (& the media)should demand compensation for a breach of contract in their provision of service creating dangerous circumstances for the city's elderly. EPE is a 1.16 Billion dollar company - Where are the stockholders? Call the Board of Directors, call the customer service with demands for compensation for the lack of service. More regrettably, we judge companies by their good deeds and ethics...

I understand that El Paso Electric is now importing all our electricity from a power plant in Arizona. Shame on El Paso Electric for undermining the Arizona boycott proclaimed by our great city leadership. I am sure that El Pasoans would rather freeze than purchase anything from the mean Mexican-haters in Arizona.
