Restraining order extended for horse slaughter plant
Roswell, NM (KTSM) — A controversial horse slaughter plant in Roswell, New Mexico has hit yet another road block.
A judge Friday extended a temporary restraining order prohibiting the plant from opening, although it's unclear how long the extension is for. Valley Meat Company had hoped to open January 1st.
New Mexico Attorney General Gary King sued the company last month, claiming the slaughterhouse would violate state laws on water quality, food safety and unfair business practices.
