Residents Evacuated in Early Morning Fire
Downtown El Paso — It's been a very rough start to this Tuesday morning for some residents in Downtown El Paso - all because of a fire at their apartment complex. There were many firetrucks and police outside the apartment building on Kansas and Third Streets. Fire officials say it took them about 5 minutes to knock down the fire.
Police were also on scene and evacuated all of the residents around 3 AM. It only took about an hour and a half for fire officials to secure the area and allow everyone back inside.
Residents we spoke with were a little shaken about the sudden awakening. "Yeah, everyone is sleeping. Everyone is 60 and up. Everyone is sleeping, you know. So for us it's early morning, you know," Raul Rascon, an apartment resident says.
Officials say they are still investigating the cause of the fire. The damages were estimated to costs around $50,000.
