The earliest signs of an Autism Spectrum Disorder don't seem to show up until after 6 months old.
That's according to a large research project comparing the development of children later diagnosed with any form of autism.

No differences were found in babies as young as 6 months. Some children had marked delays in their development by age 14 months, and were identified as having an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The goal of the project is to better understand how autism can be identified as early as possible.
