Rep. Giffords Makes Public Appearance After Announcing Resignation from Congress
U.S. Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords made her first public appearance a day after announcing she's stepping down from congress.
A little more than a year ago, Rep. Giffords was shot in the head during a shooting rampage in Arizona. Earlier today, Rep. Giffords toured the Tucson Family Assistance Center, that now bears her name. She also met privately with survivors of last year's deadly rampage.
She released a video on her website yesterday announcing her intention to resign, but she offered hope that one day she'll return to public service.
"I will return and we will work together." said Rep. Giffords.
Tomorrow, the Arizona representative will return as a member of congress for one last time; she'll take part in the State of the Union Address.
