Make the popcorn and get ready for a dose of Spide-Man 2, tonight at 6:30pm

We're joined by local movie critic, Felipa Solis, to get an inside scoop of tonight's big movie preview, The Amazing Spiderman 2 with Andrew Garfield.

Here's her thoughts about the film:

The Amazing Spiderman 2-

It continues... Peter Parker aka Spiderman is ready to Graduate, yet there are many things in the way to keep him putting on that cap and gown... This sequel to the sequel once again starring Andrew Garfield ( The Social Network) is indeed smart enough and quirky enough to be that person who spins his web to fight injustice and that he does. The action begins at the very beginning, whereby explosions abound, the future of New York City is again in question, and the fight against the evil Oscorp begins.... again.

So, we find out more about Peter's parents, and there are many chase scenes, and an abundance of colorful villains. There is some star power attached to this blockbuster. We watch his Aunt May cry alot played by Oscar winning Actress Sally Field. We see the great Paul Giamatti, and another Oscar winner, Jamie Foxx, who is really interesting as Electro. Nothing like falling into a vat of electric eels to make one go to the darkside. Gwen, played by Emma Stone has intense chemistry with Peter/Spidey, and that makes for a very interesting love interest, but is this what the kids want to see?

Let us cut to this chase. The movie is way too long. There is just not enough story to maintain all of these scenarios for more than 2 1/2 hours. Director Mark Webb has conceived of every way to provide youngsters with enough visual stimulation until the next summer blockbuster is released, but one cannot help but walk out of the theater wondering why these films must be made over and over again? This is a multi million dollar production. It is designed for 3-D and IMAX, so not only will the theater experience cost a bit more money for the moviegoer, it will also result in lots and lots of Spiderman merch until the next best thing rolls along.

This weekend's release is considered now, the first big Summer box office bonanza. Captain America was just there to entice us for more. No other film is really going to be competition this weekend. It will however be interesting to see if the women continue to enjoy "The Other Woman," while Dad and the kids head over to the Amazing Spiderman 2. The kids will say it's" cool," no doubt about that. The adults will realize that they need to save their money for yet more summer action flicks.
