You now have a new way to donate to the Salvation Army's Kettle Campaign.

One bell ringer around El Paso is now carrying a wireless credit card machine.

“Forgive us. We may have to put bell down while we swipe the card," joked John Martin with El Paso Salvation Army.

El Pasoans we spoke with seemed to like the idea.

“People use credit and debit cards every day now. I don't even have change in my purse to give him," said Veronica Romero.

Right now the Salvation Army is just testing the new technology.

But if it proves to be a success, the card machine could soon be as useful to bell ringers as the bell itself.
