Aiming for goal of 250 totes for homeless vets

The Red Cross teamed up with the Department of Veterans Affairs, Homeless Department, to host a Totes of Hope/Y2K Walk at the Veterans Administration offices of William Beaumont Army Medical Center.

Organizers said they hope the walk will generate assistance and attention for the homeless veterans in our local community and to provide totes filled with "hope" for the homeless veterans in El Paso.

They are asking the El Paso community to assist with this project by donating the following items:

Chapstick
Sunblock
Body lotion
Shampoo
Conditioner
Razors
Toothbrush
Toothpaste
Shaving cream
Deodorant
Feminine hygiene products
Body Wash
Socks
Undergarments

Collection bins have been set up at all WestStar Banks throughout El Paso available for community members to donate toiletries, socks, and undergarments that will be used to fill the totes. The bins will be in the bank locations from Wednesday, April 24th through Wednesday, May 8th.

Their goal is to have 250 stuffed totes to distribute.
