Rape, Beating Charges Filed Against 2 Men
CHAPARRAL, NM — Two men are behind bars after Doña Ana County Sheriff’s investigators said allegedly held a 22-year-old woman against her will, beating her and forcibly raping her Tuesday night.
The incident was said to happen on County Line Road in Chaparral according to the victim's roommate, who placed the 911 call.
The report says the victim and her roomate, both 22, met at the home of David Valverde and were joined by Jose Estrada.
One of the women left the home to get cigarettes, after which Valverde and Estrada allegedly began the alleged non-consensual attempts to violate the victim who stayed behind. The victim said both men slapped and raped her before fleeing into the desert.
Deputies located and arrested Estrada and later discovered Valverde sleeping under a mesquite bush.
Jose Estrada is charged with two counts of criminal sexual penetration, criminal sexual penetration by force or coercion, tampering with evidence and conspiracy to commit a fourth-degree felony.
David Valverde is charged with three counts of criminal sexual penetration, tampering with evidence and conspiracy to commit a fourth-degree felony.
Both men are being held at the Doña Ana County Detention Center.
