EL PASO — The punishment phase will start Monday morning in the trial of a mother convicted of killing her 3-year-old daughter.

On Friday, a jury found Yara Perez guilty of murdering her daughter Jacqueline in 2007.

The judge ordered the 30-year-old to be taken into custody immediately until sentencing day despite the defense's request to have her remain free on bond.

The prosecution labeled Perez as a flight risk.
