Project Manager of New Federal Courthouse Arrested

The FBI arrested Larry Wayne Anderson for allegedly making false statements to the Department of State.

Anderson is now a project manager for construction of El Paso's new federal court Downtown.

The charges stem from his previous job, when he supervised construction of the United States Embassy in Beijing, China.

According to an indictment, Anderson lied to the feds about having an intimate relationship with two Chinese women.

He's charged with 12 separate counts ranging from December 2005 to May 2008.

The Department of State prohibits any contractors working in a foreign country from having contact with foreigners for security reasons.

That's because there's a risk these contractors, with high-level security clearance, can reveal state secrets of fall victim to espionage.

Anderson is facing up to 60 years in prison if convicted on all counts.
