Prison authorities in Las Cruces reviewing procedures after inmate attacked, killed
Las Cruces, NM (KTSM) — Federal prison authorities are taking a look at their own procedures after an inmate was attacked and murdered last night at the Southern New Mexico Correction Facility in Las Cruces.
According to prison authorities, the inmate, identified as Javier Molina, was killed by fellow gang members.
The prison said it always pre-screens inmates before placing them in housing to make sure rival gangs aren't put together.
Officials said Molina's file did not show any threat.
