Preventing Labor Day Fires
EL PASO - If you plan of firing up the grill for a Labor Day barbeque, firefighters have some tips to keep you and your family safe.
Firefighters say they usually see a few fires started by grills around this time every year, but they're fires that are totally preventable.
There's one big mistake that people make....
"There's a lot of grilling and sometimes it takes place on balconies. You can be fined for that being that it's so close to a building. It poses a fire hazard. So, if you're going to barbeque do it away from a building," Firefighter Barnado Rodriguez said.
Firefighters also say it's a good idea to have a fire extinguisher or water nearby, just in case.
