President Obama Speaks About Muammar Qaddafi's Reported Death
WASHINGTON - President Obama made a statement from the Rose Garden this afternoon on the reported death of former Libyan leader Muammar Qaddafi.
The President said the Libyan people can count on America as the country moves forward. He also said this day means a lot to the families of Americans who were killed by Qaddafi's terror.
"For those of us here in the United States, we are reminded today of all those Americans that we lost at the hands of Qaddafi's terror. Their family and friends are in our thoughts and in our prayers. We recall their bright smiles, their extraordinary lives and their tragic deaths," President Obama said. "We know that nothing can close the wound of their loss but we stand together as one nation by their side."
The government of Libya announced the death of Moammar Gadhafi.
