President Obama Offers Japan Help

WASHINGTON D.C. - At a news conference today, President Obama said the thoughts and prayers of Americans are with the people of Japan after a devastating earthquake and tsunami.

The president has instructed the Federal Emergency Management Agency to be ready to assist Hawaii and other U.S. states and territories that may be affected by the tsunami.

"Fema is fully activated and is coordinating with state and local officials to support these regions, as necessary," said President Obama.
