Powerball sales in Las Cruces strong before record drawing
LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Powerball sales have been strong for Las Cruces convenience stores in hopes of winning a record $550 million jackpot Wednesday night.
The Pic Quik store on Don Roser and University saw an increase in business after Saturday's drawing where nobody won the jackpot.
The store dedicated employees solely to the power ball machine and expected to see a rush as the drawing got closer and people got off work.
Most customers had been spending anywhere from $2, the price of a ticket, up to a $100.
Drawing is at 9pm locally.
