UPDATE: EPISD has now rescheduled Andress HS graduation back to the Don Haskins Center for 9pm Thursday night.

They say that the move is to better accomodate the Andress HS community, and is better suited now that power has been restored at the Haskins Center.

The 3 p.m. Sunset High School and 7 p.m. Transmountain Early College will go on as scheduled at the Haskins Center.

EARLIER:

Graduation at Andress High School has been postponed by El Paso Independent School district after a power outage was reported during the graduation ceremony at the Don Haskins Center this morning.

Andress' graduation began at 10 a.m. Thursday morning, and the power went out shortly after the program began. Officials with El Paso Electric confirmed that the outage was caused on the UTEP campus, which is not part of the EPE electric grid.

Crews from EP Electric were on scene to assist UTEP restore power to the Haskins Center, but after an hour without power, EPISD officials made the decsion to reschedule Andress' graduation to 7 p.m. Thursday night at El Paso High School's Jones Stadium.

Sunset HS and Transmountain Early College HS are also scheduled to have their graduations later this afternoon, we will update the situation develops.
