EL PASO - Hundreds of people are without power tonight in the Lower Valley.

The lights went out shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday.

A spokeswoman for El Paso Electric told NewsChannel 9 the outage has nothing to do with rolling blackouts from a big wildfire in Arizona.

The fire is burning near the utility's transmission lines, prompting El Paso Electric to warn of possible blackouts.

Seven hundred customers are affected by the current outage in the Lower Valley.

No word on what caused the electricity to go out.

There is also no indication when the lights might come back on.
