Strong winds knocked down electric lines in east El Paso and shut down power in some neighborhoods.
Friday evening’s strong wind gust sent power lines on top of cars, smashing windows and giving emergency crews quite the clean-up job.

Multiple power lines laying on top of over 50 vehicles at The La Estanoia Apartments behind Cielo Vista Mall in east El Paso.
The El Paso Fire Department didn’t let car owners go to their vehicles because the power lines are still active.
Residents at the apartment complex say the power lines came tumbling down just after 7 p.m.
The El Pasoans we spoke to say they know they aren't going to be able to drive anywhere anytime soon, so they're making the best of the situation.

"Next thing I know, somebody knocked on the door and said the pole fell on your car. I could of been in the car and I'm seven months pregnant, but I was just wondering are they going to order us pizza?” asked Chasidey Ricks.

"Well I'm from New York, so I've never seen anything like this. It's crazy. I was sitting in my house and then all of a sudden it just went black. My car is over there and they aren't letting me to next to it,” said Aaron Jenkins.
The power outage also caused traffic lights to go out and that kept traffic back-up on many of the streets in East El Paso.
